Aerospace Product Design & Manufacturer
California

This company specializes in fully integrated design, analysis, manufacturing and testing for new concept products. The company provides entrepreneurial product development, commercial and private aircraft modifications, and conceptual aircraft designs for both military and commercial ventures. The strategy will focus on positioning the company as a preferred contract manufacturer of choice for the aerospace industry OEM customers

From 2006 through 2008 the company suffered from continued shrinking market share due to increasing low cost castings from offshore competitors. As a result, sales decreased 8% and employment decreased 29% during this period.

The company, with assistance from the University of Southern California’s Western Trade Adjustment Assistance Center (Western TAAC), became certified as trade impacted by the US Dept. of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) in August of 2008.

Western TAAC and the company’s management developed a strategy to position itself as a preferred contract manufacturer of choice for the aerospace industry OEM customers. The company will target high technology companies that require combined state-of-the-art conceptual design and testing, prototype development, and limited production capabilities. The strategy will focus on enhancing its marketing and sales capabilities, expanding and enhancing its engineering support capabilities, enhancing its production and quality capabilities, and strengthening its IT support capabilities.

The company is in its 4th year in the implementation phase of the TAAF Program, and has successfully implemented three marketing projects. Since beginning its public/private sector partnership with the TAA for Firms Program, sales increased 239% to $752,928, employment has increased 40% to 7 employees, profitability is the highest in the history of the company, and productivity improved 142% to $107,561 sales per employee.
